[EN] kio-mtp won't open Galaxy S2 in Dolphin
« on: 2014/03/31, 17:33:45 »
When I connect my Samsung Galaxy S2, Device Manager offers "Download photos with Digikam", "Download photos with Gwenview" and "Open with file manager". Digikam shows files and can download photos. Gwenview fails with message:
Quote
URL can not be listed camera:/
If I select "Open with file manager", Dolphin opens with mtp:/GT-I9100/ in the location bar, shows a loading bar at the bottom and eventually fails with message under location bar

The process for the mtp protocol died unexpectedly.
I tried editing solid_mtp.desktop as suggested in Arch wiki but no joy. Here is end of dmesg:
Code: [Select]
[ 1884.343188] usb 8-1: new high-speed USB device number 9 using ehci-pci
[ 1884.468619] usb 8-1: New USB device found, idVendor=04e8, idProduct=6860
[ 1884.468623] usb 8-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=2, Product=3, SerialNumber=4
[ 1884.468627] usb 8-1: Product: SAMSUNG_Android
[ 1884.468630] usb 8-1: Manufacturer: SAMSUNG
[ 1884.468632] usb 8-1: SerialNumber: 000912724aa73f
[ 2291.482578] usb 8-1: usbfs: process 3022 (kio_mtp) did not claim interface 0 before use
[ 2291.589804] usb 8-1: reset high-speed USB device number 9 using ehci-pci
[ 2291.716520] usb 8-1: usbfs: process 3022 (kio_mtp) did not claim interface 0 before use
Any ideas?

Hi,

I thought I had the same problem with my SGS3. Connecting and then opening with file manager resulted in the same message in a red bar beneath the window. Recently I found out that kio-mtp is too fast for my SGS3. If I wait just a little while and then klick the reload icon, the phone is connected and I have full access. Did you try to reload? Perhaps it solves your problem. I use konqueror, but I think the behaviour should be the same.

Download photos with gwenview doesn't work here either, but with digikam it does.
