[EN] struggling with wifi and connman
« on: 2015/04/16, 13:28:24 »
Hello everybody,
new siduction user here who previously used LMDE. I installed the thunderstruck iso (LXQt is new for me) and updated it, it's working so far. But I haven't found a way to auto-connect wirelessly. I connect  manually (as root) with Ceni after every bootup. I guess the suggested way is to use connman ...

In connman, when clicking on "Rescan" I get the following message:

CMST Warning
We received a DBUS reply message indicating an error while trying to scan technologies.
Error Name: net.conman.Error.NotSupported
Error Message: Not supported

Here are some terminal outputs:

root@siductionbox:~# connmanctl scan wifi
Error /net/connman/technology/wifi: No carrier

root@siductionbox:~# connmanctl services

root@siductionbox:~# connmanctl enable wifi
Error wifi: Already enabled

jules@siductionbox:~$ fw-detect
Detected driver that requires firmware to operate

# Follow these instructions to obtain the correct firmware
# and activate the iwl4965 driver:

apt-get update
apt-get install firmware-iwlwifi
modprobe -r iwl4965
modprobe iwl4965

You must first configure apt to install this non-free software,
refer to the offline manual that came with this distribution.

I installed the driver (I am online right now after all), I uninstalled it and followed the instructions again.
So ... any ideas why connman is not working?

thats why our experimental releases called "thunderstruck" - one will be thunderstrucked. and connman and cmst have some issues - especially cmst has some issues with dbus some times
