Plasma 5.20.4 will be moving from Experimental to Unstable soon, probably in the next few days. So be prepared that there could be packages removed in the process.

Hallo devil,

It took them a few days more, but here is 5.20.4 and KF 5.77 on the way to unstable. For me right now there is 18 packages to be removed, but I had no time to look into them. But as there are kde-plasma-desktop and kde-standard among them, I am quite sure you don't want to let them go. So please hold back for now because it seems like the upload is not finished yet.
10:00 MET: Looks ok now from here, just user-manager gets removed, as it has no version matching 5.20.x. Let it go, it'll be back after 5.20 hits testing, if you need it.

Seems fine on an intel GPU, but looks like trouble for nvidia hardware/driver. Hangs on the sddm splash. (2 systems). Looking into it now.
EDIT: It's not sddm.conf -- it passes the login to plasma and then hangs on the splash screen ahead of plasma. It eventually times out and goes to black screen there. TTYs are not affected.
It's not the nvidia driver, the problem remains the same with nouveau.
FIXED: Cause of the problem -- I didn't fully deactivate the npreining repo on two systems -- I didn't think I should have to. Strangely, the full-upgrade failed to upgrade libkwaylandserver5 from 5.19.5-1~np1 (from npreining) to 5.20.4-2 (from debian-unstable). When I manually installed 5.20.4-2, apt informed me that I was DOWNGRADING the package. Strange! But the problem is resolved.

^^For me as for @devil :)
Everything is in perfect order. Only the user-manager was removed.
-
Also running fully upgraded here, like previously mentioned
user-manager was removed and I had some additional upgrades as well.
libtss2-esys0 replaced with libtss2-esys-3.0.2-0
mariadb-server-core-10.3 replaced with mariadb-server-core-10.5
Noticed the following bug. Upgraded it anyway, it's in the dependency chain for kdenlive (using 20.12.0-dmo3) which seems to work fine still.
libpmix2: broken library symlink

Today I have the jolly warning about removing all network-manager things:
The following packages will be REMOVED:
network-manager network-manager-openconnect network-manager-openvpn network-manager-pptp
network-manager-vpnc plasma-nm
Seems it still requires a little more patience.
-
@pip,
nothing to do with plasma upgrade,
Depends of ppp update
-
Ah, the plasma-nm inclusion made me think there was a connection. Sorry.
