Hi,

I have at least one console always open on one of my desktops - a new tab with su (different prompt color for root via .bashrc) and a midnight commander (also different root color theme) is all I need for system administration.

Genauso krusader. Ein paar Schriften in den Schriftenordner /usr/share/fonts kopieren, ein Repo mal ein oder ausschalten, das alles auf der Kommandozeile ist mindestens genauso Fehleranfällig.
Ein Tippfehler und man hat schnell mal Rechte eines übergeordneten Ordners geändert oder eine falsche Partition formatiert.

Wie oben schon gesagt, es gibt sicher verschiedene Arbeitswege.

@lanzi I have to agree with bluelopo in using a GUI in root. Believe me I have been burned doing that a few times and only work in root at the tty1, by the way having tmux open there makes things a lot easier "at least for me".
