[EN] oh well...
« on: 2021/02/01, 21:00:29 »
some thoughts as I now managed to install the LXQT flavour of the Siduction:

1/ Calamares stuck about 1hr on  "Remove some fll leftovers - thats what the fll-installer would do." , I had to kill the darn thing then start it with the cli installaler.
Then -again- stuck there and I had to kill the task that was "/usr/bin/find /home/chris -type f -exec /bin/sed -i 's|/home/siducer|/home/chris|g' {} \\;"

(note : was not "fresh" (destroy em all) install, I already had a second partition that I instructed to be mounted as /home , now what the heck that "find" command tried to do .. ? lol , bug probably...

2/ after the installation I noticed that all of my previous files were as where supposed to be with the exception that your installer wiped all of my .local files - no a big deal, I had some "custom" desktop files there, but again...
guys if you start to wipe any preexisting user file(s) make me a favour and do a friggin backup of it/them....

no other issues I can think of them now...
many thanks! <3

Exactly which install image did you use? It is recommended to use the latest from https://isobuilds.siduction.org/lxqt/

You did! ;) Wasn't meant to land on that download location so early...

Otherwise, I have seen such behavior earlier with other releases, too, when one re-uses an existing home. The safer way would probably be to install with 'empty' home and mount/assign the old one later. So your report is a reminder for upcoming Release Notes.

Du lachst? Wieso lachst du? Das ist doch oft so, Leute lachen erst und dann sind sie tot.

ok no big deal, at least the installation worked, it complained btw about the
presence of the "bootx64.efi'" (file exists) but installed correctly anyway and the system booted.

I know the "safe way" is an empty /home , but I like to keep the settings dot-rc's etc configs ;-)

Since it slipped already: We are preparing a new release of siduction 21.1.0 »C-Blues«. I guess you can imagine what the C stands for. The images that were on isobuilds yesterday for a short time where uploaded unintentional and hence removed. We are still in the test-phase, and it'll be a week or 2 until the official release.
