Title: editing version name
Post by: titan on 2020/01/17, 10:43:56
I have recently  replaced Mint on an old Asus laptop with siduction. I used the Xfce version as I thought being smaller than KDE it may be easier to install and update, being a few years old and Qt changes at the moment. That all went went well so I then installed KDE-plasma-desktop again everything works as I want so I removed Xfce but the machine identifies as  xfce. It is trivial but I would like edit the version name from xfce to kde-plasma. I did try editing the /etc/siduction-version file but do not want to cause unintended consequences, is this simple to do or just leave thing as they are.

Don't do that!
In case of support, that info gives us the media, which you have installed.

I appreciate the issue with support and all the work the devs do for siduction but if that is the only issue and editing the name has no negative affect on the system I would appreciate knowing which files need editing.
