New ISO?
« on: 2020/02/15, 03:35:45 »
I only see an ISO from 2 years ago.  Is there a newer one somewhere that I'm missing?

I've got a new computer and want a fresh install.

Would it be better to tar over my current install than to install something far behind in updates?

https://isobuilds.siduction.org/xorg/siduction-patience-xorg-amd64-latest.manifest

Thank you.  What's the difference between the patience ones and the experimental ones?  Also were the posts above saying there's no network manager and I'll have to set up networking from the command line?

PS, I see the versions from the manifest are new in Patience. Thanks for those.

Nix Erziehungsgeschwafel - Release Notes lesen hätte gereicht.

@piper,
Your funny comment is out of place here.

@oduffo,

Vielen Dank für Deinen Hinweis.

The installer locks up upon getting to the desktop. It does get that far but is completely locked up.  I have been able to get to the console if I quickly crtl-alt-f1 right before the desktop is drawn.

I suspect it's the noveau drivers. I'm using an AMD Rizen 7 with no built in graphics with an NVidia gtx660 card.
Is there somewhere I could find a list of the installer steps from the command line?

I have no idea what command line options it takes to actually install the system.

If you manage to get to the console, you can use the cli-installer from there.

You could try a kernel option by editing GRUB during boot. nomodeset has worked for me on occasion but I think more correctly is:
Code: [Select]
nouveau.modeset=0
