Pakete sollen "ohne Grund" entfernt werden??
« on: 2018/11/12, 10:38:49 »
Hallo an alle,

Code: [Select]
Paketlisten werden gelesen...
Abhängigkeitsbaum wird aufgebaut....
Statusinformationen werden eingelesen....
Paketaktualisierung (Upgrade) wird berechnet...
Die folgenden Pakete werden ENTFERNT:
amarok bluefish brasero caja chrome-gnome-shell cinnamon-control-center
  colord dolphin4 gdm3 gnome-applets gnome-color-manager gnome-control-center
  gnome-core gnome-disk-utility gnome-music gnome-packagekit
  gnome-power-manager gnome-session gnome-session-flashback
  gnome-settings-daemon gnome-shell gnome-shell-extensions gnome-software
  gnome-sushi gnome-system-log gnome-system-tools gnome-tweak-tool
  gnome-tweaks gnome-utils gstreamer1.0-packagekit gvfs gvfs-backends
  gvfs-daemons gvfs-fuse iio-sensor-proxy k3b k3b-i18n kde-full
  kde-plasma-desktop kde-runtime kde-standard kdelibs5-plugins kdenetwork
kdepasswd kdesudo kdiff3 kfilereplace kopete kremotecontrol kscd ktron kuser
  libpolkit-qt-1-1 lxde lxde-core lxqt lxqt-core lxqt-panel lxqt-policykit
  lxqt-powermanagement lxsession lxsession-logout mate-panel mate-polkit
  mate-settings-daemon mutter nautilus nemo nemo-fileroller network-manager
  network-manager-gnome openbox-lxde-session packagekit pairs plasma-desktop
  plasma-nm plasma-scriptengine-superkaramba plasma-widgets-addons
  plasma-workspace plymouth plymouth-label plymouth-themes policykit-1-gnome
  polkit-kde-1 polkit-kde-agent-1 razorqt razorqt-policykit-agent
  sddm-theme-breeze sddm-theme-debian-breeze udisks2 xmms2-plugin-all
  xmms2-plugin-gvfs
Die folgenden Pakete sind zurückgehalten worden:
  libpam-systemd libsane-common libsystemd0 systemd

mixing different desktops always leads to real mangy situations - that's why we don't recommend it. But unfortunately nobody listens to us.

You are going to have to look at every package, lets look at what you have here for example

kdesudo

https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/kdesudo

This is why it is very important to do a full-upgrade once a week in a sid environment, 2 weeks is pushing it

kdesudo was removed from sid 2 months ago   2017-09-10

That's correct - kdesudo has vanished. But it is installed on the 64 bit system, too and has no impact. I think there will be many packages like this (interesting: is there a possibility to show all packages which are no longer in any repository?)

For clarifying:
I do *not* want a solution for my problem. I want to learn how can I get the cause for this removals. It cannot be the reason that one package is no longer maintained. A cause would be this package breaks the upgrade possibility for another package. But there is no other package to be installed and no other package shall be upgraded! Additional no package is claimed to "not configured" or "cannot be installed". I cannot determine the cause...

I do not have apt-show-versions installed at this time ;)

Code: [Select]
apt-show-versions | grep 'No available version'
Code: [Select]
aptitude search '~o'

Hi piper,

it is again safe to install apt-show-versions... Many thanks - nice hint. As already suggested there are many packages which are no longer available - and some of them are in "daily use". So I can dig through the results and see if some simply renamed or are forked now.

Question which was resulting of your post "kdesudo no longer maintained" answered.

But how can I resolve what is the cause for the removals  ::)  ?

Just out of interest I ran "apt-show-versions | grep 'No available version'"
There are some packages listed, but they are not removed by "apt dist-upgrade" and "apt autoremove"

Yes. These packages can live as long as they have no dependencies to other packages (e.g. libs) which shall be upgraded. This is the only problem that can pop up: you have to remove them to upgrade the dependencies

@df8oe

Read Melmrker last post, it is spot on

This is a very tedious job

Mate and Cinnamon are also installed on the system - and then afterstep awesome Dwm, Enlightenment, Fvwm, Gnome, Kodi, i3, IceWM, LXDE, LxQT, plasma, razor-qt, Window Maker, Xfce ...

Back in the sidux days, I made dvd's like this, I called them sidux kitchen sink, I had every desktop that was available back then.

I learned the hard way on having multiple desktops in sid, fvwm-crystal was the only one I never had a problem with in those days.

Now I keep it simple, 1 to rule them all  :)

@piper, found that if you want multiple desktop environments it is best to use a new user for each at least the config files will be kept apart from one another. Have gone back to single system partitions and upgrade each, yes it takes more time but it also cuts down on the maintenance problems with multiple desktops.  :)

That could work, but, personally I don't want a hundred different pipers running around, one is bad enough :)

piper - the packages to remove are not obsolete - apt would say so :D

Code: [Select]
apt install --reinstall $foo

Ansonsten viel Spass beim Suchen.
