 F2FS Install?

(1/3) > >>

jaegermeister:
Hi there,
considering that last official release dates back to 18.3 and that F2FS has become quite more reliable since then (some distros like solydXK are already implementing it), wouldn't it be great to be able to do F2FS installs, for all those who own SSD starting with next release?
After all, that's the way a cutting edge sid spirit ought to be....

THX

towo:

--- Code: ---~
towo:OMPC-AV3> grep -i f2fs /boot/config-5.3.7-towo.4-siduction-amd64
CONFIG_F2FS_FS=m
CONFIG_F2FS_STAT_FS=y
CONFIG_F2FS_FS_XATTR=y
CONFIG_F2FS_FS_POSIX_ACL=y
# CONFIG_F2FS_FS_SECURITY is not set
# CONFIG_F2FS_CHECK_FS is not set
# CONFIG_F2FS_IO_TRACE is not set
# CONFIG_F2FS_FAULT_INJECTION is not set
--- End code ---

What do you mean?

jaegermeister:
I mean incliding F2FS as a root filesystem choice for install.

melmarker:
We will not have out of the box f2fs installations in a foreseable future - easy as that, kpmcore and calamares must support it.

Edit: Just tested it - install went fine but it don't boot a legacy system, maybe i do something wrong - one could install f2fs-tools and go through the manual partition process - good luck.

jaegermeister:
Excuse me, am not getting it: did you succeed in installing with calamares by manually formatting with F2FS or did you use some other procedure (e.g. copying a whole filesystem and restoring it on F2FS with a tool like fsarchiver)?
