Title: kdeinit5 Closed Unexpectedly
Post by: sunrat on 2019/09/30, 03:24:52
Recently I have encountered popup notifications of "kdeinit5 Closed Unexpectedly Please report this error to help improve this software. " Clicking the Report button shows a message that there is no debug info.
Today it happened while saving screenshots and Spectacle crashed. Spectacle worked ok immediately after restarting . Crashes seem to be related to file.so and the message appears whenever Dolphin is closed. Several days ago there were also some errors relating to exim.
Can anyone find any useful clues in this journalctl paste? - http://paste.debian.net/1103327/ (http://paste.debian.net/1103327/)

Searching reveals I am not alone with this issue which appears to be an unresolved bug introduced in kf5* 5.59.0.  https://superuser.com/questions/1475867/kdeinit5-fails-constantly-with-fedora-29 (https://superuser.com/questions/1475867/kdeinit5-fails-constantly-with-fedora-29)
Does anyone else see this in siduction?

you are not alone, talked yesterday with some other KDE users about - the culprit might be:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411441 - so if you don't want to show up drkonqi each time just rename the binary temporay - solve nothing, but it don't come up at each crash :D

I added a short "me too" note to that bug report. My trace is similar to the other reports.

Curiously this is happening a lot on my old Core2Duo E8500 (with nouveau) system which I use every day, but I used my other system today which is i5 6500 (with nvidia driver) and it doesn't happen. One of the posters on the bug report says it's happening on their system with nvidia driver so that's unlikely the culprit.
I'm not going to kill drkonqi yet. I can ignore his messages for a while.  :)

Only for the records - i never suggested to kill the poor Doctor - only to silence him for a certain amount of time - thats a major difference :D
