Delay in response after desktop starts
« on: 2015/11/09, 14:38:13 »
Since the (regular) d-u yesterday, after the 5 second boot time to the desktop, there is a delay of 45 seconds before the icons in the panel appear and the only command that will initiate is <CTL><ALT><F1>. Restarting the desktop from here also leads to the same delay. Any ideas on where I might go to track down what's happening?

EDIT - I've tried going back to 4.2.5 and same issue
The cursor is responsive and 'clicking' on a folder on the desktop initially does nothing, but when the panel icons appear, the folder opens.

Do you see this delay on cold boot/restart as well as starting X from a tty console?  Remember there is still a Plasma 5 issue with some KDE processes not stopping when you go to multi-user.target.

Here are two systems, one Nvidia GPU and the other Intel, with kdenext repo enabled, updated as of 14:00 Eastern U.S. time today.  I have a 6 hour time delay from Germany, plus the delay from siduction repo to my mirror at UDEL, so it is possible that something different will happen tomorrow morning.  But as of now, they both function correctly.  On the laptop, there is a long pause on the KDE splash -- perhaps 30 seconds -- this has been the case for a month or more.  The Nvidia system stays on the splash for a shorter time before transitioning to the desktop.

Code: [Select]
systemctl disable bluetooth.service
Should fix it (the delayed icons and panel)

Thanks, that seems to have fixed things here! I was guessing (wrongly) that it was a pulesaudio issue.

That was the first thing I thought and tested :)

Second thing was network manager

Thanks piper! Yes indeed, it has solved the problem. But why has the problem suddenly occurred? Who is the guilty party? :)
