[EN] Pinta - crashes randomly after a short while
« on: 2020/07/07, 09:32:44 »
Does anybody uses Pinta? I needed a quick photo editor for small and mundane tasks and I thought to use it.
Unfortunately it crashes randomly within couple of minutes from start. If I am starting it from the terminal this is what I receive
Code: [Select]
double free or corruption (out)

searching the net I have found older posts blaming the mono-devel for it. I could understand this on a LTS release but in this case siduction has version 6.8.0.105 (Debian 6.8.0.105+dfsg-3 Wed Apr  8 15:33:36 UTC 2020) and on mono's site version6.8.0 Stable (6.8.0.123) is available. When so close versions are available this should not be the case.
Funny thing is that I have same problem on a Xubuntu 20.04 machine...
Anyway: is somebody using Pinta or somebody can suggest something that I could try? Would it make sense to install mono-devel direct from upstream? And if yes would the packages for Debian 10 be ok?
Thanks.

I've always used gimp, and I've never seen a crash.    ;)

I also use gimp, but sometime is such a pain in the ass just to draw a bloody rectangle to highlight something...  ;D >:(
