Title: TrueBench test project -- CPU comparison
Post by: dibl on 2016/12/17, 18:24:11

This might be interesting to some of the community:

TrueBench Project (http://truebench.the-toffee-project.org/index.php)

Download the appropriate binary from the "Download" page, chmod +x to make it executable, and run it when you don't have other packages running.  Then paste your test result into an e-mail message to the developer, which will look like this from my laptop:

Code: [Select]
TrueBench-11 :: Release: 10-Sep-2016 :: (c)2016 :: Author: Kiran Kankipati

Starting TrueBench system benchmark test.
It may take several minutes/hours to complete depending upon your system.

Elapsed Duration:
in Seconds: 110
in Milliseconds: 110125
in Microseconds: 110125744
--------------------------------------------------------
CPU Info:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4210U CPU @ 1.70GHz
4 cores/threads

--------------------------------------------------------
dummy_result=63
dummy_result2=63

My desktop rig is the #2 test on the top chart of faster CPUs.

The developer's e-mail address is on the "Contact" page.

Thank you Don (Mr. Don Boyd) for posting this thread. And thanks for everyone who shared their cpu benchmarks. I am going to add all these CPU benchmarks in my TrueBench website.

I hope this gives a simple and yet clear cpu comparison and its potential. And special thanks for everyone who posted their old computers. Since these computers may now match up to the performance of latest Raspberry Pis, and other Embedded SoC ARM chips. This tells the progress in technology. And also tells us the time line of ARM development w.r.t x86 platform.

This also gives a clear picture of the CPU TDP vs performance and eco-friendly power-efficient hardware development curve. Less heat, less energy consuming modern CPUs which matches the performance of older generation cpus.

Thank you :)
