Title: installing nvidia-driver-pinning-580
Post by: Kruppe on 2026/10/17, 23:47:13
Hello out there, I would like install the nvidia's proprietary driver especially the 580 series, which can be build against the latest kernels. Within the Siduction documentation I only found this Grafiktreiber nVidea, Intel, ATA/AMD (https://manual.siduction.org/gpu_de.html) but it's only about the usual driver. What needs to do to install e.g. the nvidia-driver-pinning-580? Change to runlevel 1  (multiuser) I guess, uninstall everything related to the nvidia driver and then install the whole package set around the 580 series driver? Can I do it also manually with apt-pinning and an entry into /etc/apt/preferences? And can I do it also with my Debian Teststing/Sid system?
Thanks you

BR Chris
