Post by: elzorro on 2011/12/23, 05:15:37
Hi,
I need flash, but even enabling nonfree
apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree  says no package, do we have to enable sid repos I wonder.

Quoteflashplugin-nonfree:
 Installiert: 1:2.8.3
 Kandidat:    1:2.8.3
 Versionstabelle:
*** 1:2.8.3 0
       500 http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ unstable/contrib amd64 Packages
       100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
so you have to enable "contrib" too

Hi,

I should have mentioned I am running the 32 bit version.

 enabling briefly

deb http://cdn.debian.net/debian/ sid main contrib non-free
fixed the flashplugin-nonfree issue,
but I guess

deb http://cdn.debian.net/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free
should work as well.

However sid seems a bit more developed than unstable, as sid  VLC installed OK but unstable VLC gave broken packages.
So fixing it all will be quite difficult in unstable perhaps, though I am no expert.

sid is an alias of unstable
Perhaps in case of vlc it was an temporary accident of Debian unstable refreshing their repos?

@elzorro, or do you have any preferences set in
/etc/apt/preferences
/etc/apt/preferences.d/*

[edit] was mentioned in some fresher thread elzorro should look at sources.list and preferences ....

Thanks Folks,
Siduction is not a bad effort put out just before Weinachten, and you are much more kind and tolerant to users.
Sure is not unusual for sid and unstable to be a bit out of sync especially at this time of year.
Happy Christmas and good luck for the new year especially with siduction.

No ralul, have not touched these, I only edited /etc/apt/sources.
Guess the repos that are not blocked in
/var/lib/apt/lists
are active, and give dual entries if one adds them to /etc/apt/ sources
