Title: ALSA clock.c:227 3:cann3:4: ot set freq 48000 to ep 0x86
Post by: martinwprior on 2012/01/17, 06:20:10
If I look at dmesg or switch to the console I can see that this message is constantly spawning.

I did a google of the message and found something from September 2011 with Fedora. The error related to a Logitech webcam. I do have a logitech webcam.

I have attempted to use the camera with Skype, however the recorded sound is like a chipmonk.

ALSA clock.c:227 3:3:4: cannot set freq 48000 to ep 0x86

I had not noticed this error of the previously installed Sid/Aptosid. However I did occasionally get the chipmonk sound.

Removing the Logitech Camera stops the respawning error message.

I have a Logitech webcam, model Quickcam Communicate STX (a bit old, but it works fine).  I don't see any issue in dmesg.  You might want to google the model of your webcam, and look for some issue with the alsa driver for the mic that is in the webcam.
