Carried out a du today. Even now guvcview crashes in Cap.video. cap.Image works.

Please suggest any other.
guvcview used to work well (in sidux/aptosid).

Yes, guvcview hangs on the image about 2 seconds after launching. It is not really crashed -- I can close it with the "Quit" button.

Cheese works correctly.

Skype 2.2 Beta works when launched with "LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib32/libv4l/v4l1compat.so" prefix.

KDE 4.7.2, Logitech Quickcam Communicate STX.

guvcview crashes (it closes) when the cap.video button is clicked.
Everything else works fine.

I will try cheese.

Frame rates I get are low in cheese.
Even with lower resolutions.

So did not record.
