Title: Newsreader pan removed from unstable
Post by: Lanzi on 2012/03/08, 00:55:48
We had for a while the problem, taht on lib to run and install pan was no longer availble in sid...
And since the maintainer didn't care (anybody has more information?) pan got removed as well...

Aaaaarrrrgh... this is bad news!

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=662149

The version of this package that was in Debian prior to this removal
can still be found using http://snapshot.debian.org/.

What alternatives do you use?

Think you could even get the upstream source and build it yourself..but you'd have to figure out all the deps yourself

Quote from: "devil"newsbeuter works.
pan is an usenet newsreader (nntp), not a rss-reader.

The source is still available at the Pan website:
http://pan.rebelbase.com/
There are only a couple of dependencies which are specified.  I compiled it successfully in the past, but don't remember what distro I was using at the time.  Good luck.
