Please wait till xorg is fully uploades. At the moment lots of packages will be removed.
I have installed xserver-xorg-video-intel, -fbdev and -vesa only.
At the moment it just want's to remove xserver-xorg-video-vesa on my system.
Anyway it seems no good idea to me to remove the fallback.
So I keep on waiting.

d-u going through correctly now in North America -- 16:50 Eastern Time Zone.
only 2 packages will be removed as of 10:25 UK on the http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ repositories
xserver-xorg-video-s3virge
xserver-xorg-video-tdfx
As I have neither of the card/chipsets I have let the du continue.
Right -- we still have removals on 4 drivers:
xserver-xorg-video-s3virge
xserver-xorg-video-tdfx
xserver-xorg-video-openchrome
xserver-xorg-video-tseng
So folks with those GPUs need to wait.
I forgot to add that the DU wrecked the pager and taskmanager on the panel. Easily fixed by removing and reinstalling both of them.
Haven't, as yet, noticed any other anomalies.

@clubex, what is your GPU? I saw no problems with my Nvidia or Intel graphics.
dibl:
NVIDIA C61 [GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a] with nouveau.
Googling I gather this card does have some problems with nouveau. But that wouldn't explain why a change in xorg would affect KDE especially something as dramatic as removing/misconfiguring widgets.
What actually happened was the task master no longer existed and the pager became a red X complaining about not finding a link (I can't remember exactly what).

That must be it -- some interaction between the nouveau driver and the new xorg version. I'm using nvidia-glx on 2 Nvidia GPUs.

Yep, that helps. Thanks devil.
Just discovered that init 3, DU and init 5 && exit always removes the pager from the KDE panel on my machine. Might be something to do with some of the qt4 stuff during the xorg DU.
Someone said, removing and readding it would help.

TYes devil it was me. But since then I've discovered the pager always gets "lost" (ie. reported as unknown widget) after exiting X and returning to it.
Fixed my problem by removing the old panel and creating a new default panel. I seem to remember that there was a qt upgrade along with the xorg upgrade so I can only presume that this messed with my particular panel config ie. panel on the left hand side of the screen.
Very interesting article about this topic:
