What are u want, change the client?
Well take a look to the wiki, for saving your datas.( sorry but the wiki is still only DE_de, translators are welcome)
There are some migration tools for the different clients, like claws-mail or thunderbird, or wathever.
I cant tell you how all the things are working, because i do not use kmail.

good luck,hendrikL

d-u -s showed some infos, that led me to the impression, that the next d-u wont improve my kmail inst, but would rather bring more probs on using it.

I want to migrate. As asked in my subject: "how and where to?".
Claws is not for me. I look for thunderbird or another recommendation, but how to migrate thereto?

I still don't get it, what you saw in d-u.
And what do you understand under the term 'migrate' in that respect?

When you run short of ideas, open an IMAP account on gmail, sync kmail with it, then sync your next client with it and the magic is done.
