Hi all
I have burnt 3 firestarter-kde-amd64-201305211844. iso DVD's, one from the Stuttgart site,
one from the Brazilian site, and a final one from the Georgia Tech site (all in a slow 8x
speed). None of them is able to boot in my desktop, with a new Intel mobo DH87MC (with
UEFI boot disabled and Legacy boot enabled). The splash screen appears but with a superposed
black rectangle on the left upper side, with the following:
data prog

0 55.1 0 ffffffff .5
1 0.0 1 15d7 .15
2 0.1 2 15d2 .5
3 1.1 3 431e .5
err 8
ip 45fa: 10.7
The mouse does not work.
If, anyhow, I press enter, there appears the following message:
welcome!
To start the system type one of the label menus below and press [enter]
siduction_amd64
Boot_from_Hard_Disk
Memory_test_(memtest86+)
Have a lot of fun...
boot:
I chose, of course, siduction_amd64, but then the following error came:
Could not find kernel image: siduction_amd64
Any tips??
Sure you had a completed download or a good burn?
orca, please try burning at 4x
If that still don't work and you have an extra partition you can try booting/testing/installing by using fromiso (http://manual.siduction.org/en/hd-install-opts-en.htm#grub2-fromiso).
It is the only way I test releases and my own builds and installs to hard drive in under 4 minutes.
If you have access to another dvd burner or a friend that has one that you can use just to burn an image to make sure thats not the problem also.
What program are you using to burn ?
first check the md5sum to make sure the download was sucessful.
Than you can copy the iso to a usb-stick, so you must not waste any further DVD.
dd if="the_iso_name" of="the_device" bs=4M
But be sure you use the right device, it will be overwritten without any further hints.
Hi orca,
Please read this thread, which is also valid for siduction
