Ich hab neue drucker (Officeet pro 8500 und einen LaserJet 1300 über USB an Printserver,einen futro s500 mit nox)
Auf meinen Desktops und Laptops kann ich den direkt am Netzwerk hängenden Officejet ohne Probleme einrichten (mit der hptoolbox). auf dem Futro kann ich den LJ1300 auch ohne Probleme einrichten, über das webinterface unter http://[ip-futro].631. aber trotzdem ich dort unter admin auch "share printers connected to the Internet" angehakt habe wird der Drucker auf den anderen Systemen nicht gefunden.
Früher war ich gewohnt, das solche Drucker auf den "Clients vollautomatisch gefunden wurden. Muss ich das jetzt auf jedem System local zu Fuß einrichten ? Das wäre echt lästig!

Da hab ich es jetzt auch hin verschoben.
Bei der aktuellen cups-version ist das browsing aus dem daemon entfernt worden und in ein extra Paket gepackt worden, warum das sein muß weiß wohl nur der Geier oder so.
apt-get install cups-browsed
Und du solltest auch das hier lesen, besser ist das.

Ja, du sagst es. Was da im Augenblick mit cups passiert verstehe ich nicht. Mal sehen was sich die Leute von der Apfelwerkstatt noch so einfallen lassen.

Nur der Linux-mint laptop kann auch drucken. Der Rest mit siduction findet jetzt zwar unter localhost:631/printers die vom Server freigegebenen Drucker, aber wenn ich dann z.B. unter Libreoffice oder mit Iceweasel zu drucken versuche, passier nichts.
Das error_log von cups auf dem client hat mir auch nichts für mich verständliches erzählt. Werde mal schauen ob der Job vielleicht auf dem Server nen Error produziert hat.
Kennt jemand das Problem?
Auf dem Server kommt der Job vom siduction-client gar nicht erst an

Ja. Ich hab in /etc/hostname jetzt auf dem Server futro.local.net
und auf den Clients z.B. siductionbox.local.net
hostname -d zeigt überall local.net
hostname -f siductionbox.local.net
Aber im Browser unter ip:631 finde ich tatsächlich noch dies ominöse .local ???
Hab ich da was überlesen, falsch verstanden ?
Du musst auch in der /etc/hosts den kompletten Hostname inkl. domain eintragen. Der Schuldige für das .local ist der avahi-daemon auf deinem Printserver. Ich hab das auch nicht auf Anhieb geschnallt.

Das hab ich dann auch gemacht, aber unter http://localhost:631/printers tauchten die Drucker dann auf, ohne das man sie durch anklicken öffnen konnte, um z.B. eine Testseite zu drucken. Das ging erst als ich in der cups-browsed.conf "BrowsePoll 192.168.3.222:631" gesetzt habe. 192.168.3.222 ist die IP der Nox Printserverbox. Spricht etwas gegen dies BrowsePoll ? Netzlast?
auf siduction sind die ersten beiden Zeilen der /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 siductionbox
geändert in
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 siductionbox.local.net
merkwürdigerweise behinderte der folgende Eintrag auf dem Client das ganze:
192.168.3.222 futro.local.net
nach entfernen dieses Eintrags geht es dann wieder, weiß der ....
weshalb.

Wobei Mint damit aus dem Stand die Drucker gefunden hat und ich auch drucken konnte. Dort sind auch einige cups-Pakete installiert, die ich in Debian/Siduction nicht gefunden habe.
Es geht jetzt scheinbar, aber restlos verstanden hab ich das alles nicht. Danke erst mal für Eure Hilfe.

Denk dir doch einfach einen *gruppennamen* aus, beispielsweise (vom unterstellten familienename Mayer abgeleitet) mayernet, in dem es folgende rechner gibt: siduxbox, schltop, tombox.
Dann sehen deine einträge so aus:

BTW: verwendest du dhcp? Hast du getrennte bereiche für dhcp und fixe ips?

das zweimalige 127.0.0.1 kann man sich doch sparen. Bei mir ist es so in der /etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 localhost
# homezone.net
192.168.178.1 fritzbox.homezone.net fritzbox
192.168.178.10 polarfox.homezone.net polarfox
192.168.178.33 printer.homezone.net printer
[...]
Meine Domain ist homezone.net und wird auch richtig aufgelöst. Alle Clients haben eine feste IP - kein DHCP aktiviert.
$ hostname -d
homezone.net
$ hostname -f
polarfox.homezone.net
$ hostname
polarfox

futro heisst ein alter thinclient von fujitsu. Und ich bin immer so wenig kreativ im benennen von Rechnern. :oops:
so gibt es acerlap und asuslap usw.
Den Futro hab ich als Ersatz für meine alte nslu2 box zusammengebastelt. Hat mit sempron 2100+ und 512MB Ram und einer aus Compactflash FotoZeiten stammenden 8GB Cf Card genau daas Leistungspotenzial für einen 24/7 Rechner. Schluckt ca. 14 Watt.
Das reicht sogar für LXDE und vdr mit streamdev-client zum Fernsehstreamen. 8)

.net ist der TLD teil. local.net wird es vielleicht nicht unbedingt geben, aber warum mit 'ner TLD herummachen wenn man keine eigene hat und es mit 'nem gruppenamenanhängsel auch klappt.
Wenn ich ohne wirklich eigene TLD meine rechner zu hause unbedingt nach dem DNS schema benennen wollte dann würde ich das mit einer pseudo TLD machen, z.b.
127.0.0.1 sidbox.myhome.loc sidbox

Ohne BrowsePoll in der Datei /etc/cups/cups-browsed.conf geht das bei mir nicht.

Für BrowsePoll funktionieren dann folgende Einträge:

Was nicht funtioniert:

oder garnichts.
Da kommt dann beim klicken auf den Drucker unter http://localhost:631/printers eine Fenster wo der Browser sich beschwert das er kein Protokoll ipps: handeln könne und bei nem Druckjob kommt wieder unable to locate futro.local :twisted:

Ein Hostname setzt sich ja auch aus einem hostname.domainname.tldname zusammen und wird von rechts nach links aufgelöst. Sprich dein m8net wird als tld angesehen ( wie zB de com org ) und futro als domainname ( zB google microsoft ) und es fehlt der eigentliche hostname. Deshalb wird das so nichts.
dann erweitere ich also den hostname mit m8net.local , denn ne TLD .local sollte wohl keinen Ärger verursachen?
Um was erweitert der avahi den Namen? Genau: um .local von daher ist das kein plan. Nimm irgendetwas phantasievolles wie xyz oder so...

hab jetzt überall [rechnername].m8.xyz als hostname und auch dies format in der /etc/hosts. ich kann den blöden printserver mit
ping 192.168.3.222
ping futro
ping futro.m8.xyz
erreichen.
Ohne die explizite angabe der IP 192.168.3.222 für BrowsePoll in der cups-browsed.conf
produzieren alle Druckjobs nachwievor den Kackfehler "unable to locate futro.local"
Da der Mint Laptop nachwievor wunderbar ohne diese krücke Browsepoll druckt, muss der Mist auf der clientseite, meinem siduction desktop liegen. Da muss noch mehr fehlen als die hostnamen und /etc/hosts, aber was?
So ins Blaue was mir dazu einfällt: /etc/resolv.conf weißt deine Domain auf? /etc/nsswitch.conf listet bei hosts: files vor mdns und mdns_minimal auf und bei networks: nur files auf?
Und ansonsten schau mal bei deinem Mint nach ob dort der avahi-daemon überhaupt gestartet wird. Bei suse wird er als Standard nicht, bei siduction wohl schon. Ganz im Zweifel trete den mal aus und schau ob es dann geht.

ich hab mal meine nsswitch.conf resolv.conf und hosts Dateien gepostet.
Wenn der avahi-daemon nicht läuft, startet mitlerweile cups gar nicht mehr? Zumindest war das webinterface auf localhost:631 nicht zugreifbar.

die resolv.conf nicht händisch editieren (steht auch drinnen, wird dynamisch erzeugt), sondern über die /etc/network/interfaces anpassen.
Beispiel:
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.178.10
broadcast 192.168.178.255
gateway 192.168.178.1
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 192.168.178.0
dns-nameservers 192.168.178.1 212.224.71.71 193.189.244.197
dns-search homezone.net
Der Eintrag dns-search erzeugt deinen Eintrag (search) in der /etc/resolv.conf. Wenn du allerdings den Networkmanager verwendest musst in den Einstellungen deines Netzdevices nachsehen, dort kann man das auch eintragen.
Ich hab in den anderen Fred mal was rangemalt, mein .local suffix ist wieder da.
