FAO towo
I've got a sidux install, dist-upgraded and, until recently, have used the aptosid kernels. I had little success with installing beta nvidia drivers with aptosid 3.11 but managed to install 331.20 on 3.11-6.towo-siduction-686-pae i686. I have recently tried and failed to install 331.20 on 3.12-0.towo-siduction-686-pae i686. Some discussion at :

64bit a RAM issue? Having 4 Gbyte of it?
I think these days we have multiarch, we have pepperflash 64bit ...
and 64bit much more tested/used by developers.
I saw discussing the issue of nvidia-uvm.ko and patches at nvidia forums: But I can't find this module on my system.
The more serious issue with nvidia-drivers-331.20 is a SIGCHILD signal masking discussed in gentoo bugs. But I don't know if this is confirmed.
I have 3 siduction systems with Nvidia GPUs and proprietary driver -- all 64-bit. They are all updated recently and I have not seen any problems. This one is a GT200, similar to OP's GT218:

If I understand the techpatterns forum post, the problem could be in the sgfxi installer script. I have not used sgfxi, but followed the siduction manual (dkms) method.
