Title: [solved] Can't get installed mono, need it for an application
Post by: vigidr on 2014/01/06, 04:49:46
Hi all,

have installed siductino (newest stable, 2013-2) into VirtualBox. Also the extension's running properly. But I have some trouble with libmono.

As it's not in the default repositories I tried to install it manually with dpkg by downloading the package. But it told me it would depend on other packages and they can't be installed. Then I tried to get it from other repositories. Unfortunately it comes up with the same message when I try to install with apt-get.

root@siduction:/home/balken# apt-get install mono-complete

You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
kopete-otr : Depends: kdelibs4c2a (>= 4:3.5.8-1) but it is not installable

libmono-system4.0-cil : Depends: libmono-system-configuration4.0-cil (>= 1.0) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libmono-system-xml4.0-cil (>= 3.0.6) but it is not going to be installed

E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

(OTR for kopete does run tho, guess it already was installed by default. However, I also can't get these packages removed anymore. apt-get remove and apt-ger autoremove don't work on that.

"I can't get something removed" sayes nothing without the output from the terminal.
Hopefully you have done an apt-get update before your commands.

I know. Unfortunately that's exactly what I get on the konsole.

If I run apt-get remove kopete-otr, it prints out the screen that libmono etc. depend on other packages, but not kopete-otr. Same if I afterwards run the same program but for mono: It shows up the two other packages depending on other packages again (also kopete-otr again).

I also tried with --purge.

The packages are still in stuck in apt-get.

Think I'll just reinstall blank. Thought someone could help with this.

However, after blanked reinstall: How do I have to proceed to get mono installed?

I have no idea where you get that output. apt-get install mono-complete works just fine here, other that it installs 186 packages. All packages come from unstable, no unmet dependencies.

The first dependency kopete-otr does not even exist anymore in unstable.

Doing a fresh install and will try afterwards. If I remember right it didn't work here. That's simply why I tried manually.. (And yes, of course I did an update and upgrade before...)

OK, seriously, after 5 more tries of installing siduction (in the meantime it could not install right, sometimes the install service, as it's a local installed webservice, didn't work), it's working now. The install routine is kinda buggy, atleast in VirtualBox. An automatic partitioning never worked for me. I always had to do that manually.

However, this problem is solved for now.
