Hi I need some help with some kernel 3.13 issues that make my computer unusable.
My computer appears to start up fine into kde but Klipper, Kmix, and Knemo are missing from the system tray and the won't start manually.
also Dolphin takes forever to start and some apps won't start at all like the ones listed above and others like XBMC.
I also can't logout or shutdown. If I try to through the application launcher nothing happens and the desktop becomes unresponsive.
I can use ctrl+alt+f1 to go to terminal and log in as root but if I try to restart with "systemctl reboot" i just get a black screen with a blinking curser and have to do a hard reset.
I did let it sit for an hour once and it output code like this:
[241.515289] INFO: task kworker/u8:4:214 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
[241.515425] Not tainted 3.13-0.towo-siduction amd64 # 1
[241.515523] "echo 0> / proc / sys / kernel / hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.
It repeats this code several times showing kworker, pulseaudio, kded4, and alsactl listing each more than once.
It seems similar to this thread but nothing in it seemed to help.

i am using a 3.12 kernel waiting for a solution!
Keep up the good job guys!
apt-get remove --purge pulseaudio
and reboot, see if you still have problems
purging pulseaudio has alleviated some of my issues. the system tray items are now loading fine and dolphin now loads normally but all other issues still remain. some pulseaudio library packages are still on the system but they are dependency's of kde.
XMBC fails to start.
system still won't shutdown and has to be hard reset but i now only get the one error message about kworker.
the error message is the same as the one in my first post about kworker but it only appears once and its with kernel 3.13-0.towo.2-siduction-amd64
any other suggestions or info i can supply.
Try 3.13-0.towo.3.
I would install 3.13-0.towo.3 but for some reason its lot in my package database which is odd.
my source list file correspond to whats listed here http://packages.siduction.org/ (http://packages.siduction.org/)
I removed a few more packages: gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio vlc-plugin-pulse libpulsedsp and rebooted a couple of times and things are a little different.
as long as i don't try to start XBMC i can log out of kde fine but system still hangs on shutdown. I haven't waited long enough before hard resetting to see what messages come up.
I just checked here http://packages.siduction.org/ (http://packages.siduction.org/) under base amd64 and no 3.13 kernels appear to be present. Maybe i need to use a different mirror.
New kernel installed and seems pretty solid here. 3.13-0.towo.2 seemed to have issues running a big VM in VMware Player. 3.13-0.towo.3 fired it up nicely.

installed kernel 3.13-0.towo.3 and it didn't make any difference.
although I let it sit for about twenty minutes while shutting down before a hard reset and no messages came up just a blank screen with a blinking cursor.
Just installed the newest kernel 3.13-1 and all my problems seem to be gone.
system shuts down fine and XBMC starts fine.
haven't re-installed pulseaudio and don't think i will because spdif pass-through was not working with it for some apps anyways. I can install again to test if that would help anyone.
I will continue to run this kernel and let you know if there are any more issues.
out of curiosity do you know what it was that caused the problems on my system so i can provide more useful information in the future.
thank you for all your help.
