Title: LightDM and upgrading your monitor
Post by: terroreek on 2014/02/27, 04:26:21
Hi Guys,

I have a quick and maybe dumb question, so I recently swapped my monitor out, and upgraded it to one that supports a 2560x1600 resolution.  After smashing my head against a wall for two days trying to get my monitor to work at after a reboot I found that it was actually lightdm that was the problem and not the numerous nvidia driver settings I was tinkering with in xorg, the edid of the monitor, or the nvidia driver.  Specifically it was the /usr/share/lightdmxrandr.sh script.  I manually changed the resolution from 1280x720 to 2560x1600 in the script and finally got lightdm to start.

The question is, is this the correct method to update the script, or should I 'dpkg --configure <some package>'??

Also if any one here upgrades their monitor and you just get a flashing cursor and black screen check that script. :o
