First post from a first time siduction user here! I've used ubuntu for a few years, and currently run wheezy for a couple of servers, so I'm comfortable with debian in general. I recently loaded up siduction 2014.1.0 indiansummer (xfce) on an Acer Aspire 5735Z laptop with an SSD. So far, I like it a LOT! But I do have some problems/questions. I'll list them all here. If I should make separate posts, please advise best practices for this forum.
1. When I leave this laptop alone for a while, it always powers off. I haven't figured out what length of time it takes. I have never had this problem with other OSes (xubuntu Precise, siduction paintitblack LXQT dev 20140508, elementaryos-unstable 20140810, others I've forgotten). Perhaps it is trying to go to sleep, but triggers a shutdown instead?
2. This keyboard has an AltGr key. I understand this is useful and necessary for many people, but I really need that key to be a simple Alt key, exactly the same as the left Alt key. Also, the Windows key (left super) appears to be mapped to multi-key instead of super. I've played with the XFCE Keyboard Settings/Application Shortcuts and Keyboard Layouts dialogs, and the /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/level3 file. Nothing I've tried seems to have any effect. I'm out of ideas. Anybody have any advice?
3. Simple newby question: the monitor things I see on the desktop... Is that called conky? How can I tell? How can I configure it? I like it, I think, but I'd prefer the clock to show my local time zone...
Thanks in advance for any advice or pointers!
Hi fivevalve,
Welcome here in siduction forum.
To your question # 3:
It would have in your home directory (or subdirectory) a file called the .conkyrc or something like that. There can customize you can conky to the smallest detail.
