Title: (solved) KDE logout/shutdown problem.
Post by: vayu on 2015/06/23, 01:50:15
My KDE won't logout, or shutdown from the menu's.  I must use shutdown -h now.  Everything else works great. I love my system, I must be beyond two years and I have so many tweaks and special settings, I don't want to change it until KDE 5 seems solid and stable.  If I create a new user, that user can logout and shutdown from the GUI.  Any idea what .kde things in my user directory I can play around with that would affect logout and shutdown without undoing my other settings?

Maybe this helps. Look for /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc
There is a section where you can change the command in KDE for shutting down and rebooting. It may look like this:

[Shutdown]
BootManager=None
HaltCmd=/bin/systemctl poweroff
RebootCmd=/bin/systemctl reboot

Thank you.  I will mark as solved. The problem went away after upgrading to Plasma and Framework 5.
