Title: How do I add icons to the system tray?
Post by: Lend27 on 2016/01/01, 04:05:32
I can't figure out how to add a volume control and all of the usual system tray icons. Right clicking the panel doesn't bring up the ability to do that.
Am I missing something?

Thanks
Len

BTW, I have the new Mate version.

Hello,

Are you sure that right click on panel doesn't work ?
For me it does. Try to go to apps menu and try add it from there.
You should  be able to add any launcher on any location on panel  except between date and network icon (notification area). If you want to add to notification area please unlock it , enlarge it to make place for new icon/icons and use right click.

I guess I should have been clearer. When I right click, it does bring up the ability to add to the systray. But the volume control is not one of the choices. I solved the problem by installing volti, which adds a volume control to the systray. Problem solved :)

Thanks!

'Default panel' is a good place to start (volume control included) then add other icons as required
