Title: [SOLVED] keyboard allways start as English
Post by: vilde on 2016/03/03, 13:10:32
I have a problem that every time I start the computer the keyboard is English, it shall be Swedish.

The installation is the first paintitblack from December 2015, xfce 64 bit. In xfce the setting is Swedish keyboard, I have run dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration and set it to Swedish. My locales are set to Swedish (probably doesn't matter here)

But every time the computer has been shut down it starts with English keyboard, the indicator on the taskbar for keyboardlayout shows "se" but for making it work as "se" Swedish layout I have to click on that indicator once and then it will actually be a Swedish keyboard layout.

Hello vilde,

I have spent a day of playing with theese settings and i can't reproduce this behaviour.

I think some configuration item may be invalid in your dot-files.
Perhaps you can create a valid configuration with the KDE systemsettings for keyboard layout:
Try to change the order of your layouts (move up/down),
save the changes and then revert it back to swedish at the top.

If this doesn't help you can try removing all layouts, save, and then add your layouts again (swedish first).

greetings

Thank you for your effort musca.

I have played arround with the settings before, but now I tried one of your suggestions. It's not working to take away all the layouts, there has to be one left so I added a German layout and took away the Swedish, restarted and it was still German layout, that was promising, then I did the opposite, added the Swedish layout and removed the German and now it works :)

hello vilde,
