Wie schon bei Kernel 4.11 ist auch bei der Nachfolger Version 4.12 wieder Geduld gefragt bis ein funktionierender Treiber zur Verfügung steht. Also bleiben wir vorerst bei 4.11 :(

The change has to be done in the nvidia-driver, not in the kernel.
So you must not post on every kernel update.
The update of the kernel will not change the situation.

Sure i know that, but that patches are for the driver, not the kernel.

Mit Piotr Oniszczuks Patch läuft nvidia-340 mit dem Mainline-Kernel 4.12 unter LZesty einwandfrei (https://axebase.net/blog/2017/07/09/ubuntu-mainline-kernel-4-12-mit-nvidia-340/), unter siduction sollte das genauso sein.

If you do not want to install the drivers and prefer to keep the DKMS of the repository, you can do the following:
1) Extract the patch from the 'seasons' post
2) Copy nv_patch_340.102_linux_kernel_4.12 to /usr/src
3) Create a link for the 4.12 kernel: sudo ln -s nvidia-legacy-340xx-340.102 kernel
4) Apply the patch: sudo patch -p0 < nv_patch_340.102_linux_kernel_4.12
5) Recompile: sudo dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-legacy-340xx-kernel-dkms
He just did it! That worked for me.
Hmm, da bei mir gerade neues GLX-Zeug reinrollt: Tut jetzt Nvidia-legacy-340xx wieder mit den 4.12er Kerneln?
Oder sollte ich da besser immer noch bei 4.11. bleiben?

Ich weiss ja nicht, was Du siehst, aber da is nix neues von nvidia-legacy-340xx-driver im update.
Ist immer noch version 340.102-2 vom 2. Juli.
Ja, ich hatte was von glx gesehen aber der Treiber blieb leider der Alte.
Kommen die irgendwann wieder in die Gänge?
Ne Zeitlang konnte ich ja vorher den nouveau nehmen aber der tat letztens auch nicht mehr.

Der nouveau-Treiber funktioniert hier wie gewohnt.
Danke, werde ich dann mal wieder ausprobieren. Der konnte au einmal nur nch 1280x1024 Darstellung statt 1680x1050 und Widergabe von Videos ging gar nicht.

The new version of nvidia-legacy-340xx (340.102-3 ) works very well with kernel 4.12.9-towo.1-siduction-amd64.
But there is a warning from the KDE team for Version 384.xx
