Hi all,
Since the last D-U I did on siduction with gnome3, nautilus (Files) is not functioning as expected. Whenever I click a file (e.g. a PDF) it will not open it. If I right-click and select "Open with document viewer" it still doesn't open. It only works when I select: "Open with other application" and then select Document viewer.
Anyone else having this strange behavior?
Thanks!
Hi,
it's working just fine here. Last d-u was 22 hours ago, there were quite some Gnome updates.
Have a nice weekend all,
Stephan
I have d-u'd today as well, but no change. So it must be something different.

Hello dion,
please create a new user and check if nautilus behaves differently for that user.
Maybe some personal mime settings are broken for your main user.
greetings
musca
@musca: You're right. The problem does not occur with a new made user. So, do you have any clue which mime settings could be the problem / how to figure that out and correct it?
FYI: the problem only occurs for nautilus, not for instance when I use thunar.
Thanks!
What does a right-click on a .pdf show ?
It shows the usual menu: "Open with Document viewer", "Open with other application" and then copy/paste etc.
Double-clicking the PDF doesn't work. "Open with Document viewer" doesn't work. "Open with other application and then selecting "Document viewer" however works.
This is not only the case with PDF's but also images ("Open with geeqie" doesn't work, however "Open with other application and then selecting "geeqie" does work. Same also with text documents, LibreOffice documents etc. Basically, with all files that I want to open from nautilus.
Known bug atm: #874003 - Nautilus does not launch applications (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=874003)
@der_bud: That seems to be the same problem. I am not however sure if this is indeed a nautilus bug (see above: the behavior does not occur when I create a new user). So it seems to be related to some user settings.
Solved the problem by renaming ~/.config to ~/.config_old and logging out/in. So it must have been some usersetting.
