Hallo allerseits,
mich hat heute beim Herunterfahren meines Laptops eine Reihe von Oopses erwischt.
Ich habe hier mal den output aus dem journal angehängt.
Von dem was ich da rauslese scheint es irgendwo im dma subsystem zu passieren.
Ich habe jetzt mal auf einen älteren Kernel gewechselt, wenn euer System auch hängen bleibt, dann könnt ihr ja auch mal versuchen ob es auf einem älteren Kernel nicht passiert.

today I got caught by several kernel oopses on shutdown.
The contents of the journal is attached.
To me it seems like something is happening in the dma subsystem.
I changed to an older kernel for now, if you are experiencing hangs on your system you might want to also change to an older kernel.
EDIT: I totally forgot to add my system configuration.

Hatte eben auch nen ooops beim Neustart, Mister00X.

Ja, dass es nicht viel helfen wird fürchte ich auch.
Auf meinem Stand-PC hab ich bisher auch keine Probleme. Wahrscheinlich ist das so ein Bug den man nur mit einer bestimmten Hardware-Konfiguration erwischt.
Ich kann das auf meinem Laptop zwar nicht verlässlich reproduzieren, allerdings ist es mir bisher zwei mal passiert. Einmal beim Herunterfahren und einmal direkt nachdem ich mich in SDDM angemeldet habe.

Ja, genau so sehe ich das auch. Meine vorsintflutliche Computertechnik ist dafür nicht geeignet. ;)

Also mit dem neuen Kernel linux-image-6.3.10-1-siduction-amd64 dachte ich zuerst meine Probleme wären vorbei.
Leider lag ich damit falsch, beim zweiten Herunterfahren hatte ich eine Kernel-Panic. Es war zwar kein dump auf dem Bildschirm zu sehen, allerdings das bekannte Anzeichen "Lämpchen der Feststelltaste blinkt" plus die Tatsache dass mein Laptop nach 30 s neugestartet ist (ich boote mit panic=30), daher bin ich mir ziemlich sicher.
I thought my problems were solved with the new kernel linux-image-6.3.10-1-siduction-amd64.
Unfortunately I was wrong. I had a kernel panic on the 2nd shutdown. Even though there wasn't a crashdump on the screen the known symptoms "flashing of the caps lock led" together with the fact, that my system rebooted after 30 s (I my laptop with panic=30) make me pretty sure about this.
Update:
Kernel-Panic beim Herunterfahren auch mit kernel linux-image-6.3.11-1-siduction-amd64. Die Panic tritt so schnell ein, dass noch nicht mal richtig auf die Konsole gewechselt wurde.... also wieder kein dump auf dem Bildschirm :-/
Das wird langsam frustrierend.
Update:
kernel panic on shutdown also with kernel linux-image-6.3.11-1-siduction-amd64. The panic happens so fast that my system hasn't even switched back to tty1.... therefore no dump visible on screen again :-/

With kernel 6.3.12-1-siduction-amd64 my system is no longer panicking on shutdown but I still got an oops on shutdown and everything hangs indefinitely.
The last lines of journalctl -b-1 -k --no-hostname --output short-monotonic --since 12:47:00 --no-pager can be seen in the code block above.
Du könntest ja mal Kernel 6.4 aus unserem Experimental Repo versuchen.
Alles klar, das probiere ich heute gleich mal aus.

Hab gerade gesehen, dass ein 6.4.3 nicht experimental zur Verfügung steht, den probiere ich auch mal aus....
Ansonsten, der letzte funktionierende Kernel ist für mich 6.3.8-2-siduction-amd64

@towo Mit kernel 6.4.3-1-siduction-amd64 bekomme ich eine Kernel Panic in dem Moment wo ich mich in KDE (wayland) anmelde.
Solange ich mich nicht in einer grafischen Oberfläche anmelde scheint alles in Ordnung zu sein.
Passiert das bei X auch?
Also hab es jetzt gerade mehrfach ausprobiert sowohl mit wayland als auch X habe jeweils dazwischen den Laptop neu gestartet:
1. Versuch: Wayland: funktioniert kein Oops keine Panik
2. Versuch: Wayland: Kernel-Panik direkt nach dem Login
3. Versuch: X: Nichts
4. Versuch: X: Nichts
5. Versuch: X: Hängt beim Herunterfahren aber noch bevor X beendet wurde, hatte noch einen Mauszeiger auf dem Schirm. Habe den output von:
journalctl -b-1 -k --output short-monotonic --no-hostname
als Datei angehängt. Da gab es eine NULL pointer dereference mindestens einen Oops und eine menge NMI backtraces.
Ich habe leider keinerlei Zugriff auf solche Hardware.

Da läuft aber TUXEDO OS und das hat mit dem Kernel keine Probleme.
Gibt es noch irgendeine Möglichkeit wie ich dir beim debugging helfen könnte, Debug-Kernel oder sowas?
Du könntest auch einen Upstream Bug aufmachen, im Kernel Bugzilla oder dort mal schauen, ob das Problem schon bekannt ist. Du kannst ja angeben, dass das Problem seit 6.3.9 aufgetren ist und 6.3.8 noch funktioniert hat.

Ich hab das upstream stable repo geklont und dann obige cherry-picks aus https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/agd5f/linux/-/tree/drm-fixes-6.4 durchgeführt, mit der siduction config compiliert und bisher keine oopses oder panics auf wayland mit
