Moin TOWO, please can you fix this also for NVIDIA-driver 575. I am using this driver [etc/apt/sources.list.d/fixes.sources] with kernel 6.16.11 (I need it for davinci-resolve video editing). But after the last update to kernel 6.17 my system doesn't start sucesfully. I can boot with the older kernel 6.16.11 but not with kernel 6.17. What can I do? Thank you for your help.

NVIDIA 590.48.01 is the latest feature branch driver for Linux that was released almost one month ago
now i think is not beta anymore
If the 580 legacy series will still be available for siduction that would be nice as well for those older cards like the GTX 1060. Will this same legacy driver be patched to work on 6.18 kernels? It doesn't build for me on 6.18.

I can't help directly as I have tesla rather than glvnd, but the i386 entries... are they needed, with Debian moving away from that? I do still have nvidia-egl-common, nvidia-installer-cleanup, nvidia-kernel-common, nvidia-support and nvidia-vulkan-common, hence I'd presume some, at least, are still required. Still, with my system, the desktop keeps freezing up for a while with "Desktop effects were restarted due to a graphics reset", so I'm not the perfect reference point.

dpkg -l | grep nvidia
isn't ideal as it shows packages which have been removed but not purged? Or perhaps that was what you were looking for, the disparities? That command shows nvidia-alternative and nvidia-legacy-check, which aren't shown by
apt list --installed | grep nvidia.

Now we know the output of apt and dkms is the same, we may address
the 13 removals:

The nvidia version of nvidia-suspend-common for some reason leaves out
the systemd suspend services, so we backup the files for good measure and return
them after all is set and done:

Removal of the updated kernel modules would counteract our whole effort, hence we let them go.
Maybe someone can comment on libgl1-nvidia-glvnd-glx and nvidia-driver-bin, but I had no issues removing them,
so as far as I am concerned: Ten down, three to go.
But before you proceed I want you to test the updated drivers beforehand (assuming you are
running on kernel 6.17 and the "6.17" is not a typo):
$ cd /tmp
$ apt-get download nvidia-kernel-dkms
$ mkdir nvidia
$ cd nvidia
$ dpkg -x ../nvidia-kernel-dkms_595.58.03-1_amd64.deb .
$ cd usr/src/nvidia-595.58.03
$ make
$ ls -la *.ko

Maybe you can supply more information about the current state of your system, including:
- are the new nvidia drivers loaded and used ($ lsmod|grep nvidia)?
- did they even compile?
- are you still using the external nvidia card (and not the internal one, since the drivers didn't load)?
- can you provide a desktop image?
- can you start a konsole to ease the gathering of information?
