Achtung: System nach Update unbenutzbar

Hallo,

gerade habe ich ein DU laufen lassen, das mit einer Fehlermeldung abbrach. Danach ging nichts mehr, kein dpkg, kein apt-get, kein Einloggen in Runlevel drei, ich kann noch nicht einmal Fehlermeldungen posten, bin gerade auf meiner Gnome siduction unterwegs.

Sorry, dass ich keine weiteren Angaben machen kann.

Attetion: After last DU my system is broken, dpkg, apt-get, login in Runlevel 3 don't work anymore. I write from my Gnome test system.

@Holger, did you notice what the upgraded packages were?  I ask because I made a d-u only 2 hours ago and saw a few upgrades, but on reboot all is good here.

If this is any help ...

I had a problem over the last couple of days which I solved today.

Over the last couple of days I was always dropped back to the terminal after the KDE GUI login. Today the boot was very, very slow and but eventually reached the desktop. Everything seemed OK (ie apps worked) but I couldn't log out.

No evidence of anything startling in the logs but desktop fonts size had changed and the pager was reduced in size.

I suspected a KDE/Nvidia fault so today I removed and reinstalled nvidia-kernel-source, nvidia-kernel-common, nvidia-kernel-dkms. Then installed nvidia-glx and everything was back to normal operation.

No real idea why this happened. I DU daily (sometimes twice daily) so perhaps I caught the original nvidia 304.64 driver before towo's modified driver arrived. Although it shouldn't have affected me as my GeForce GT520 card is not yet legacy.

I had yesterday a situation, where on my 32bit notebook a lot of KDE-Apps where deeinstalled (I didn't read carefully...).
I reinstalled KDE and the missing apps today, and everyting works fine

Can't see any really suspects for crashes there, despite perhaps initscripts or sysvinit.

Holger, can you reach your system from outside and find any hints in /var/log/apt/history.log or term.log?

ich hatte keine Probleme beim d-u gestern. Wo steigt denn dein PC aus, nach dem Bootmanager grub oder später? Kannst du nähere Angaben machen?

Ich hatte gestern auch keine Probleme mit meinem 32bit System

Bei mir ist das gestrige 32bit DU, gegen 21:30 mit einer Fehlermeldung zu deadbeef ausgestiegen.

Das folgende 'apt-get install -f' ist ein paar Pakete weiter eingefrohren, so dass nichts mehr ging. Nach einem Neustart mit 'init 6' konnte ich dann aber mit 'dpkg --configure -a' weiter machen und es ist alles durchgelaufen...

Ich habe das du irgendwann gegen Mittag gemacht und heute so gegen 10 Uhr immer noch keine Probs.
Die Inst. und der Neustart meldeten nichts.

danke für die Beiträge und Hinweise. Ich werde heute abend mal versuchen, mit dpkg --configure -a das System zu reparieren.

Wegen eines bald anstehenden Umzuges kann ich momentan nicht ausführlicher auf den Fehler eingehen, ich werde wohl aber neben siduction noch ein Wheezy installieren, dann habe ich ein stabiles Ausweichsystem :-)

thanks for the hints, I'll try to repair my system with dpkg --configure -a. I think it would be a good idea to install a wheezy system next to siduction to have a stable system for such worstcases :-)
