  siduction 14.1.0 cinnamon amd64
I have a nice conky config that I put in this install and I would like it to launch automatically when system boots to desktop. At present, I must launch it by pressing alt+f2 and entering 'conky' to make it appear.
Can someone please tell me if/how I can do this?

Hi,

I don't know whether there is a specific option in cinnamon, but you may try to use a .config/autostart folder in your /home/$user directory.
Create a textfile named  conky.desktop and fill in this:

[Desktop Entry]
Comment[de]=
Comment=
Exec=/usr/bin/conky
GenericName[de]=
GenericName=
Icon=system-run
MimeType=
Name[de]=
Name=
Path=
StartupNotify=true
Terminal=false
TerminalOptions=
Type=Application
X-DBUS-ServiceName=
X-DBUS-StartupType=

Cant try myself at the moment, have no cinnamon ready atm.

ok, now, after installing cinnamon...

There is an easier way to autostart programs>

Goto the menu => settings => systemsettings => startup programms (the red rocket) => add

There you can give your new launcher a name and search thru the folders to add conky from within  /usr/bin/

Sorry, I have the german desktop, maybe the names are somewhat different to my translation.

thank you ayla for your replies. i tried the solutions you offered, but they didn't work and i figured i can live without it. . . but today i installed the latest nvidia beta driver and now the conky is working automatically on boot.
