Yes, that is sad news indeed.

#! was a great distro, Corenominal (Philip) did a great job.

I wish him & ex #!'s the best of luck.

It's sad to see any great distro go down.

hello KrunchTime,

sadly their main developer has stopped his efforts. The community is shocked.

The best way to prevent this: Be an active member of your community.
Get involved and start supporting your beloved projects.
Learn the basics and know the manual. Soon you can help other users.
Start answering their questions in the forum or contribute to wiki artikles.
Find out how far you can evolve your role in the project.
Your help will make life easier for your developers.

Don't hesitate and start supporting your beloved projects.

greetings

Yes, what musca said.  And, if you don't have enough technical skills to help with distro development, use the "donate" button and help with the project expenses.   :)

@musca & dibl:  I helped out in the forums and also donated.  However, with the exception of possibly money, I don't think it would have changed the outcome.  The forums are heavily used so there was no lacking in that area.  I don't know how much money Philip took in, but it probably wasn't enough to live on.  I do know that he has a regular job and family on top of being the sole developer of the project.

Based on some posts in the forums, he evidently had personal obligations that finally required him to stop work on the project.

I will steer clear, or at least think long and hard, before using a one-developer distro in the future.  The only long running one-person distro that I'm aware of is Slackware.

And Patrick isn't alone finally - there is a team too behind slackware

MEPIS and Elive come to mind, as other single-developer distributions.  It isn't healthy, for the users or the developer.  Better to have a community, and provide mutual support, IMHO.
