A must read  would be to start at Upgrade Warnings (DE / EN) , especially when things say URGENT

I use the notify option on the whole upgrade warnings, so when a new thread starts I get an email. I then decide whether I follow it or not.

I just select "unread posts". It shows me everything I haven't viewed, German or English. Even though I don't speak German, I can usually decide if the post is something I need to translate. If a team member posts something marked "Urgent", I won't miss that post, either. When I've finished looking, I mark everything as read, this keeps the unread list to an easily manageable length. I won't claim this method is perfect, but it works for me.

On a related note, there is a Firefox extension called Gesture Translate which enables text to be selected and translated with right click or gesture. I find it useful as it saves having to translate the whole page in another tab.
