Hi all,

I am looking for an amarok expert who helps me, reconfiguring the song text  loading while playing music.

I just get the hourglass ideling, there seems to be something wrong, but I do not understand what how to reconfigure.

EDIT:
Has anyone a recommendation for an other audio player (scanned CD's in .flac and .ogg), which is perfectly GETting the song texts and showing them up?

Maybe you should give a try to clementine.

I just tested this and have the same issue. Lyrics are displayed for songs I have previously viewed lyrics for, but not for others that I haven't viewed previously. Well, some songs; I didn't check them all.
I checked several well-known songs such as The Beach Boys - Good Vibrations. There is an entry at lyrics.wikia.com which I believe is the site used by the script, but it fails to fetch in Amarok.
I am sure this worked in Amarok until recently. I have Amarok 2.8.0 and KDE 4.11.00 from kdenext.

Clementine fetched the same lyrics correctly, but I prefer Amarok.

Same issue here - if you read similar problems in the Amarok forum, they blame it on "the way the distro handles the scripts". Any questioning beyond that seems to awaken the Myrmidons. I think (operative word - think) that it is a perl issue. I believe that we have been told the perl transition is still dynamic.

Edit: I should probably expand on that. I never found a fix, and little solid information. The best answer I found was in one of the Suse forums - there, it was blamed on perl.

This is my desktop machine, siduction, 64 bit, Amarok 2.8, KDE 4.11.1

My laptop uses another distro, 32 bit, Amarok 2.8, KDE 4.10.5 and it exhibits the same behavior.

Hello,

this is an issue in the original debian packaging, see:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=721882

I think I have fixed it in amarok 2.8.0-2~pre4 from kdenext, so please upgrade to that version and try again.

Thank you for reporting the issue. By the way, the problem had nothing to do with the perl transition, it was just patch in the debian packaging which doesn't play well with amarok's code anymore.

Thanks, Santa!

That fixed it. Odd that there was little to no info out there. I had relegated this one to "wait until the fix catches up".

Edit - and after reading the bug, it was QT that was mentioned in the source I read. I don't know how I came up with perl, other than the recent issues. Hopefully, I didn't send anyone off on an adventure.

do they really want me to stop using amarok? actually i already stopped using it by playing music with clementine - but some weeks ago I decided go give it a new chance. wrong decision:

QuoteAmarok 2.7 is not compatible with a library from 4.11. Either upgrade to the current beta version of Amarok 2.8 or hold off your SC 4.11 upgrade until the final version of Amarok 2.8 is released.

noticed too late ...  :x
