The new xserver-xorg-video-vmware driver seems a little crashy at first.  On an updated siduction system with proprietary Nvidia graphics, VMware Player crashed twice, then ran stable for an hour until I shut it down.  On a newer laptop with Intel graphics, it crashed the first time and then ran stable the second time.  Only further testing will reveal how stable it is in the longer term.
