I have been using the tarball unzipped in my home directory and it works fine, rather than installing a package.

Nix zu danken, ich hab nur die debian-paketierung geklaut :D - manchmal sind wir halt schneller als offiziell, deshalb auch die komische Nummerierung mit dem ~1 - sobald das Paket in sid verfügbar ist, übernimmt Debian wieder.
