I needed to generate 2FA for just one website, I have been using Pass for years but it is a bit basic. I installed keepassxc and it generates the tokens fine but then I thought I would give it a try for for everyday sites and passwords in my case BBC and Twitter. But I just cannot get it to work. The browser plugin is enabled and the icon is green and appears in the input box but get the error password cannot be found for this url. I have followed the troubleshooting hints on their github page everything seems OK. I am using Firefox nightly but also tried beta.Has anyone had similar problems.

As an aside I have since discovered Aegis on Fdroid works great and I will just stick to Pass unless there is a fix for keepassxc.

Browser integration

I like cryptic replies, if you mean enabling browser integration in Keepassxc I had done already done that. Anyway after another couple of hours I gave up, it may be because I am using Firefox nightly but I like the simplicity of Pass and will just use Aegis on my phone to generate the needed TOTP  and have now removed Keepassxc.

I use KeepassXC with Firefox nightly, too. There is no correlation with that.
Problem is to add the correct link to KeepassXC when adding manually KeepassXC entries.
Just to be clear, you have to log in first in KeepassXC before starting Firefox, in order to use the browser plugin, otherwise you have to open the browser plugin and reload the connection.
The easiest way to add entries to KeepassXC is using the browser plugin. When you use a login site, KeepassXC did not know, the browser plugin asks automatically if you want to add the new password to KeepassXC.

Do what you can't stop doing!   :-*
I'm just wondering why you're even asking here, because you already know everything from the FAQ..

Why the sarcasm ?

Did you install keepassxc-full?
Wenn Windows die Lösung ist...
kann ich dann bitte das Problem zurück haben?

Thanks for the reply, yes I was using Keepassxc-full, I thought I must be doing something wrong, I know it is a popular app and thought a user here might point me in the right direction as to what I was doing wrong but I can't get it to work as it is meant to. I was only looking at it because it can generate TOTP but I have found another way to do that and will just stay with Pass for my important passwords.

I hope I can put some light in here: this forum with light theme shows links/URL in a greyish blue on lightgrey background. Some of us had that earlier, somebody posts a link and others cannot see that this is clickable ;)
So @titan: the text "browser integration" posted by unklarer is a clickable link to docsumentation about Browser Integration,
@unklarer: titan could't see that it's a link (an so don't I, just got used to it that such short answers sometimes are links and try to hover my mouse over it...)
Du lachst? Wieso lachst du? Das ist doch oft so, Leute lachen erst und dann sind sie tot.

Danke, @der_bud    :)

Yes I did not see the link but I had already read the FAQ and further troubleshooting tips on github. I had tried with the Debian webext-keepassxc-browser and the browser extension from Mozilla. The Debian version does not appear in Firefox nightly but does in Beta the mozilla version shows in both but does not work in either.

I have since looked at the Pass website and a otp extension is now available and will try that when I get a chance later.

I could of saved a lot of hassle if I had looked at Pass website first. Just installed pass-opt,  used zbar to read the otpauth needed for the Pass file from the qr code from the the site requiring TOTP and that's it all works.
