CUPS Update Causing “filter failed” on Multiple Printers

Hi everyone,
After updating CUPS, I'm running into a strange printing issue on one of my machines. Every printer fails with the same "filter failed" error, while another machine with an older CUPS version works perfectly with the exact same printers.
What I've already tried:
  • Completely reinstalling and resetting CUPS
  • Re-adding all printers from scratch
  • Checking
    /var/log/cups/error_log
The log repeatedly points to
gstoraster exiting with status 127 (sometimes mentioning file too large), and even a simple test page fails.
Has anyone experienced this after a recent CUPS upgrade? Is there a known fix, or is downgrading CUPS the only reliable workaround?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry in german, but there are two solutions, it is a bug or so.

One solution is to downgrade, the other is renaming the gstoraster config so that pdftoraster will be used for printing

It depends on what you prefer.
