[Solved] long log in time

I've just updated my systems to the new KDE.  Although most was fine (I just lost some panel icons and keyboard shortcuts, that I quickly fixed it), but now the log in to KDE takes a long time (over 1 minute from sddm screen).  It was MUCH faster before.

I thought it was just the first time (for the desktop to adjust to the new version), but has happened a few times now.

The system has good specs, so I'm not sure if this should be happening.

I also experience the same thing in virtual machine installation (running under Qemu/KVM.)  Is it just me?

der_bud

It's not just you ;) , there is a trial to investigate that same behavior in the german section.

There is quite a few people with the same probleme in this german thread: https://forum.siduction.org/index.php?topic=6854.0 . No solution yet. I am not sure it is a siduction problem. There was a lot of debugging today in our IRC channel, but no clue as of yet.

Thanks der_bud and devil for pointing out the German thread.  Sorry I missed it.

I can live with it for now.  I will soon upgrade my aptosid boxes and see if it happens there too.

Thanks!

I did d-u 2 days ago which included Plasma 5.10 and don't have the login issue, or any issues that I have noticed.

FWIW: my old aptosid installation has now been updated and does not have the log in delay.  I have one more aptosid system at home.  I will see how that goes...  (Again, just as a FYI, in case it helps decide if it is a siduction problem or a Debian Sid/KDE problem.)

der_bud

Finotti, in that german thread above it seems as if the solution is
Quote from: cs on 2017/09/21, 11:31:59...  Das Problem ließ sich auf der Konsole als root durch

rm -f /etc/X11/Xsession.d/98vboxadd-xclient

lösen.   ...

Please try if it helps.

Thanks der_bud!  It fixed my VM.  I will try my laptop tonight and if it works (and it seems it should) I will mark the thread as solved!

% apt-file search /etc/X11/Xsession.d/98vboxadd-xclient
virtualbox-guest-x11: /etc/X11/Xsession.d/98vboxadd-xclient

Maybe a simple
apt purge virtualbox-guest-x11
in a host would be the better (debian) way

Indeed, it seems a better idea and it worked in my laptop.  Thanks all for the help!!
