With Kernel 5.4 hdmi sounds no available

I have to test with my laptop to see if it is replicateable.

I tested on my laptop qith kernel linux 5.9 and that trick is not working in my case.I will stay with 5.3 kernel to avoid any trouble.

Hmmh, tested once more, w/ kernel 5.10.3-towo.1-siduction-amd64. HDMI sound works w/ boot parameter "intel_iommu=off".
Maybe our machines are different, see my "inxi -ACGM" below.  That's all I can tell.  Stay safe.
