Looks like plasma-desktop has all the others as dependencies, I installed it this morning, nothing's stopping me from doing it again now and see how it fares  ::) maybe some packages were updates in the past few hours which fix it

this time plasma looked like it was going to work, for the first minute, my autostarts from gnome worked, like they do in xfce, but system tools kept crashing ([Restart] [Report bug]), windows without custom controls lacket the close button, clicking on an application did not bring it foreground, I could not start my byobu terminal because of some error, had to sudo poweroff from qterminal via Alt-F2, because Super key did not work (I guess that was what crashed first)  :'(

this is probably related to something that's happening to people using gdm+gnome and upgrading from fedora 42 to fedora 43

Mystery solved: gnome has outright removed X11 support from version 49, and I was at the time only able to use X11.
ChatGPT helped me understand the issue, and get me to reach a working Wayland environment, so now I'm back into gnome.
