Title: Problem with plasmashell when starting KDE
Post by: graviton on 2022/03/13, 09:50:59
After yesterday's update, the plasmashell occupies 100% of one core of my system when KDE is started and the KDE interface is not fully loaded. Does anyone have an idea for solving the problem? Thanks!

Google finds lots of threads like these:

https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/pbbzqh/plasmashell_suddenly_eats_up_100_of_cpu/

There have been bugs:

https://kde-bugs-dist.kde.narkive.com/mqLqHR1i/plasmashell-bug-393438-new-high-cpu-usage-when-idling

Supposedly fixed. I don't remember seeing this bug myself. I run 4 Plasma/KDE siduction systems, both Nvidia and Intel graphics.

Sorry, I didn't find an absolute fix. If it happens to me, I would remove/purge all of plasma, delete all the user's plasma config files, and then reinstall the plasma desktop. But there's no guarantee that would fix it.

Thanks for the notes, I will probably need to reinstall plasma. I reactivated WMAKER ;-), "Less is more"  graviton
