Title: Update removes Digikam
Post by: GoinEasy9 on 2022/06/28, 15:08:38
KDE users, careful with today's update, Digikam is to be removed. I haven't researched yet but while 130 will be updated, 4 removed are trouble. I would wait awhile before doing the update.

The reason could be: both the -> transitions  (https://release.debian.org/transitions/index.html) of -> ffmpeg (https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/auto-ffmpeg.html) and -> kdepim (https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/kdepim-22.04.html) affect the build of -> digikam (https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/digikam). So hold on for a while, as always in such cases.

Here is only one to remove:
Code: [Select]
Die folgenden Pakete werden ENTFERNT:
  libkf5alarmcalendar5abi1
May I let it go?

Correction, that's because digicam is not installed.

The other PC says:
Code: [Select]
Die folgenden Pakete werden ENTFERNT:
  digikam digikam-private-libs libkf5alarmcalendar5abi1

Here is the digikam part of the issue:

Code: [Select]
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
digikam-private-libs : Depends: libkf5akonadicontact5-21.12 but it is not installable

24 hours later, Digikam still wants to be removed, so, we're still waiting.

In my memory, digikam has always taken a little longer in the past too.

Digikam still waits to be updated, and I'm still waiting to update it, maybe tomorrow.

They have to compile it against the new ffmpeg, and that seems to be not so easy.

I have faith they'll figure it out. Might look into a conditional upgrade, geez, haven't tried to do one of those in ages.

I tried to use the acpcud resolver, but it returned no solution. Holding digikam and the other 3 to be removed made things worse (45 to remove). Anyone find a conditional way to do some of the updates, or, are we just waiting? At the moment without a solution, I'm just waiting.

From my experience digikam always needs some (much) time until all problems are resolved.
IMHO there are only two reasonable solutions:
1. let digikam go temporarily and reinstall the package later again.
2. as long as it doesn't affect any other (security) aspects: just wait and see.
Otherwise, 105 packages are supposed to disappear into nirvana in my case ...

Digikam is always seems to be a problem when KDE updates it boasts being part of KDE family but must be the odd one out. I let it go days ago, Gwenview and Darktable are fine so I will reinstall Digikam went it can be installed again. It was holding up too many other updates.

Ich habe digikam entfernt, alle Pakete aktualisiert und digikam erneut installiert. Es funktioniert bei mir.

I removed digikam, updated all packages and reinstalled digikam. It works for me.

I had tried that every day but it was complaining about libkf5akonadicontact5-21.12 dependency  but just tried again now and it has installed OK
