Yes.I strictly use sources and mirrors recommended by siduction.   
I also follow these steps every time I upgrade

   
• runlevel 3
• apt update
• apt full-upgrade -d
• apt full-upgrade
• kernel-remover
• apt clean
• reboot

if you want belt and braces - just use stable. Joke aside, running a D-U in a screen or tmux session does nearly the same as going to a non-graphical mode, in case the xserver crashes, just pick up the screen session from console
