Hi

when I klick in iceweasel on a link that points to a pdf, gimp starts and wants to import this file. However I want a download and the pdf file to open.

I think this behaviour is since some weeks, although I did not change any options.

How can I get the normal behaviour back, so that the pdf is presented in view-mode?

Try right-click "open in new tab" or right-click "save as". Furthermore have a look at the mimetypes in the iceweasel settings for changing the behaviour for normal clicks.
Ok, you can't code, but you still might be able to write a bug report for Debian's sake

My all-default iceweasel opens a pdf to view.  To download it, I must right-click and choose "save as".  Here is something google found:

Also, look under Edit > Preferences > Applications > Portable Document Format -- you have some choices there.
System76 Oryx Pro, Intel Core i7-11800H, ASRock B860 Pro-A, Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF, Nvidia GTX-1060, SSD 990 EVO Plus.

thanks I changed that. Who manipulated this setting? Not me, so the d-u process? Who knows!

I had the same behaviour. Easy to change it back to Okular though.
I suspect it happened since dist-upgrade brought in gimp-2.9.1-0.siduction.1 from experimental, which I had enabled to bring in the Nvidia 313.09 driver.
